Driving licence naturalization in hungary
Our school helps to you all the procedures about the driving licence

License issued by the foreign authority may authorize to driving if it is contains:
a) the data of the owner's license,
b) the photograph of the owner,
c) the dates of the issue of license,
d) the number of the license,
e) the date of the driving license validity,
f) the "permis de conduire writing" on it, the name and /or state identification, a licensing country
provided that the entries made in the boxes and Latin characters or English cursive letters,
or in this form are repeated on the licence.
Driving license issued by the foreign authority shall be deemed adequate if:
a) in the country in which the license was issued joined the 1968 Vienna Convention on Road Traffic, or
b) the license was issued in another EEA state,
c) is accompanied by a certified translation into Hungarian, and use it to determine the content of driving privileges.
This type of foreign driving licence exchangeable without exam requirement.
A foreign driver's license uthorize driving for one year from the date of the beginning to staying in the Republic of Hungary, after the foreign driving license need to be replaced to Hungarian driving license .
The obligation to exchange is not covered by a valid driving license issued in another EEA State which authorizes driving within the validity period.
If reciprocity notwithstanding the provisions of paragraph (4), a member of an international organization operating in Hungary diplomatic and consular representation and Hungary established diplomatic, administrative and technical staff, family members or driving licenses issued abroad entitles driving without a time limit.
Driving license issued by the foreign authority shall be considered valid if:
a) the holder of a driving license declares that the foreign driving license is issued, the issuing country was habitually resident or resident;
b) the holder of a foreign driving license meets the age criteria.
At naturalization the issued by a third country driving license, the Traffic Management Authority withdraw, when issue the Hungarian driving license.
If the third-country nationals leave the territory of the country and give back the Hungarian driving license the Traffic Management Authority give back the issued by foreign authorities driving license.
If the driving license submitted for exchange was issued in a country, which joined the Vienna Convention on Road Traffic of 1968, the holder of the driving license can drive a vehicle for a period of one year from the start date of his/her continuous residence, after that period the driving license can be exchanged for a Hungarian one without any test.
Citizens from following countries can drive in Hungary - Austria, Bahamas Islands, Bahrain, Belarus, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Central African Republic, Czech Republic, Croatia, Cuba, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Guyana, Iran, Israel, Italy, Ivory Coast, Kuwait, Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Republic of Macedonia, Morocco, Moldova, Monaco, Niger, Norway, Russian Federation, Pakistan, the Philippines, Romania, San Marino, Senegal, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, Switzerland, Islands of the Seychelles, Sweden, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, Uruguay, Zaire, Zimbabwe. This is because they have joined the International Vehicular Agreement of Vienna.
All other citizens have to naturalize their driving license for legal driving in Hungary.
1. The required documents:
- Certified hungarian translation of your foreign driving licence, (Address of Translation Office: OFFI Zrt. 1062 Budapest, Bajza utca 52. tel.: 36-1-428-9600)
- Your foreign driving licence,
- Medical certificate for "B" category driving licence (Our school give address for you.)
- ID or passport,
- Plastic address card (or the white sheet address card),
- Residence permit.
2. With the documents visit the Central Registration Office (Central Office for Administrative and Electronic Public Services) address: 1133 Budapest, Visegrádi u. 110-112,
In 30 days it will be judged what kind of exams you should take, it can be only theoretical or theoretical and practical.
3. Come in our driving school, where we help to prepare the necessary theoretical or theoretical and practical exams. For theory exam you able to get study material from our school.
Tuesday 1 pm - 5 pm
Friday 4 pm – 7 pm.
For registration we need:
Identity card or passport.
Fill in contract form with the school (received in the office)
Pay the theoretical education tuition fee: (25.000 HUF)
The prices of practice driving lessons in English: on weekdays 4.800 HUF/session
Before 8:00 am and after 6:00 pm and at weekends and holidays extra charge need to pay, 500 HUF/session, in this case the driving practice hours 5.300 HUF/session.
On demand the student can ask quick start and intensive driving lessons. (three times/week or more)

4. After the exams visit the National Transport Authority. Here, you will receive a certificate of successful exam, exams.
5. Visit again the Central Registration Office with the documents mentioned above and with the exam certificate.
In 30 days you can get your driving licence.
